I've been reading this manga since the very beginning, and it has been so consistently rewarding. The characterisation is so brilliant, realistic (inasmuch as a heroine with grudge demons can be called 'realistic'), and endearing. Characters who might, in other stories, become flat or one-dimensional, are always given opportunity to shine, and a solid exposition of character nuance.Nakamura-sensei's writing style appeals so much, not only from a romantic standpoint, but a comedic one, as well. Comedy is never an afterthought in Skip Beat, and I always find myself laughing uproariously at the physical comedy, the dry humour, and circumstantial hilarity that fills this manga. Not to say that the romance is anything less amazing: Kyouko and Ren's slow burn is one of the most compelling romances that I've had the pleasure to read, and the Guam arc really showcases how much our heroine and hero (?) have grown.Skip Beat continues to be one of my very favourite book series, as Mogami Kyouko continues to be one of my very favourite female protagonists.
